This week saw Year 9 students take part in energy workshops at City Academy. Supported by resources from EDF, the STEMworks leader talked students through the various career options available at EDF’s Hinkley Point C. With students asking questions about hours and salary, they were encouraged to learn that there are so many options available to them.
Later in the session, the groups used materials to create their own generators and wind turbines, simulating similar processes that will take place at Power Station.
When asked about what they had enjoyed at the end of the sessions, the students discussed the idea that the sessions brought science to life and made it more interesting in the classroom.
With two more days of Year 9 STEMworks sessions at City Academy to come, and even more scheduled in for our other three schools, there is lots more physics fun in store.
